Travel Vaccination Information
At Abernethy House Surgery, we provide a limited range of travel vaccinations available on the NHS. These include:
- Hepatitis A
- Typhoid
- Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Polio (DTP)
If additional vaccines are required, such as Rabies, Japanese Encephalitis, or Yellow Fever, we will advise you to contact a private travel clinic. Similarly, anti-malarial medication is not provided by the surgery and can be obtained directly from pharmacies or travel clinics offering travel services. If you have a complex medical history, we may advise you to contact the Travel Clinic Services at Travel Clinic Services | The Hospital for Tropical Diseases, which offers a private vaccine clinic for patients with complex medical conditions or those taking certain medications, such as immunosuppressants or undergoing chemotherapy.
How the Process Works:
- Complete a travel vaccination form, available online or at reception.
- Our travel nurse will review your form and provide advice based on your destination(s) using trusted sources like Travel Health Pro.
- You’ll receive a text message outlining recommended vaccinations and instructions to book an appointment if required.
Please ensure you submit your request at least six weeks before your travel date to allow time for assessment and vaccination.
For vaccines and services not offered at the surgery, we recommend contacting any private travel clinics. Details of private travel clinics can be easily found online.
